The International Malbec Competition is organised by the CDV. CDV means Concours Des Vins. It is an association created in 1976 by the growers of Bourg and Blaye appellations.
The CDV organises 3 famous internationals competitions : - Les Citadelles du Vin - Le Challenge International du Vin - Malbec International Competition
The C.D.V. is organised around 4 main pillars:
The Board of Directors The Board validates the budgets and all the main strategic decisions of the association. It is made up of vine and wine professionals (growers and teachers) and of representatives of the economic driving forces of the region. The Board of Directors includes an Executive Committee to steer the projects of the C.D.V.
The Executive Committee This defines the general policy of the competition. Chairman: Bernard Donèche (University of Bordeaux - Chief of Oenology Departement)
For the smooth running of the Committee, it is divided into :
- The administrative and IT commission oversees improvement and maintenance of administrative and IT support as well as the organization of human resources. Headed by: Gérard Grenier
- The Promotion Commission, makes every effort to make the competitions and their winners know and appreciated. Headed by: Gilles Larrue
- The Technical Commission, monitors products, organizes the tastings, cheks and confirms results and does downstream follow-up. Headed by: Hervé Romat,
The General Commissioner Jacques Blouin, doctor in engineering, co-author of scientific works devoted to wine. He recommends, proposes and handles the monitoring of the technical developments of the competition.
